Chapter 1
Chapter 1 outlines the purpose of this book and will introduce you to the authors as well as to the following seven chapters.
Chapter 2
Chapter 2 will introduce you to two fundamental principles:
1)  needs meeting the customer’s
2)  needs underwriting (risk appetite) expertise

The combination of these two principles is very crucial for the success of any insurance company. Would we focus and work on a solution solely on one of these aspects in a vacuum? The chances are big, that we may miss either:
a)  the target of meeting and satisfying the requirements of the customers and/or
b)  the set underwriting (risk appetite) expertise combined with prudent judgement, underwriting curiosity and common sense.
Chapter 3
Chapter 3 follows seamlessly chapter 2 as we go into the essentials of crafting an International Property Insurance Programme. There are various potential types / solutions, which we need to consider, understand and ultimately make the right decision to follow it through. Insurance companies may compete primarily on the price but very often the chosen concept and structure gets the attention of the customers.
Chapter 4
Chapter 4 deals with the Underwriting Considerations, which are the fundamentals of a sound and professional Underwriter who must demonstrate the necessary skills at any time and on all levels. When submitting an insurance solution, we must be sure, that we have considered all possible aspects of the insurance cover and the implications for the insurance company.
Chapter 5
Chapter 5 deals with programme handling and is linked to Chapter 3 (“potential types/solutions”) and submits some ideas how to go about setting up the programme structure. In contrast to Chapter 3, where the possible options were explained, this chapter deals with the operational part once the customer and underwriter have decided which type of international property programme to be put in place.
Chapter 6
Chapter 6 deals with Reinsurance. In particular, facultative reinsurance, spot fac as well as the importance of concurrency.
Chapter 7
Chapter 7 deals with the International Network. How to structure the required network for handling your international property insurance programmes as well as the importance of good communication within your network.
Chapter 8
Chapter 8 deals with Risk Management. The critical use of risk engineering information as well as the difference between BCM (Business Continuity Management) and BCP (Business Continuity Planning). It also points out why they are important in our underwriting process.
